Ambrose Tompkins are originally from Leicester whose line-up features an ever-changing cast of friends and family members, the only permanent member being main singer-songwriter Rob Waddington.

They released several limited 7"s and split-EP's with Regular Beat between 2004-2006 with one of those tracks, 'Running On Grass', being selected by Rough Trade Shops for their 'Best of 2004 Counter Culture' album (which also featured Elliott Smith and Sonic Youth among others). They also toured / played live with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Go! Team, The La's and The Beta Band.

Ambrose Tompkins went on to release an album and a clutch of singles on Leicester label Forthesakeofthesong Records and also collaborated on records by other artists including Yellow Kid and the Fence Collective's Viva Stereo before returning to the Regular Beat fold recently.
