"Her work has a lovely, mournful lilt, a sort of Parisian blues. Even those of us who don't speak French cannot help but be touched by the stark beauty of her phrasing". LA Weekly.

French-born, Tucson-bred Marianne Dissard was Madame to Joey Burns' lovestruck gold digger on Calexico's hit song "Ballad of Cable Hogue" and sang with Naim Amor on album "Tete A Tete/ABBC" (Amor/Belhom/Burns/Convertino). Her first album, "L'Entredeux", due out sometime in 2008, is co-written and produced by Joey Burns, with Calexico's John Convertino on drums, Naim Amor on guitars (who composed 3 of the 11 tracks), Rob Burger (Tin Hat Trio) on piano and accordion, Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson) on harmonica, Matt Mitchell and Vicki Brown. It features her all-French lyrics, 11 vignettes of "love and other little lies" in brooding and sultry ballads.

Marianne has also written lyrics for Howe Gelb (on Giant Sand's ".. Is All Over the Map"), Amor Belhom Duo (two albums on Carrot Top Records), Naim Amor (album "Mistake Love" produced by John Parish and "Sanguine" produced by Joey Burns, released on France's major indie label Atmosphériques), and Francoiz Breut. Her poetry has appeared in national and European magazines.

During the 2004 presidential election, Marianne launched the infamous Tucson Suffragettes, a group of downtown Tucson vixens who went after "virgin voters". She periodically collaborates with Tucson's Spork Press on various audio and paper-derived products.

Marianne directed documentary films from 1989 to 2001 ("Drunken Bees" on Tucson band Giant Sand, recently re-released on DVD, "Post No Bills" on LA artist Robbie Conal and, for French TV, "Low Y Cool" with filmmaker Robert Kramer, on lowrider bikes in Tucson, and "Celtic Traveler" on the Dublin music scene).
